For the Porter family, farming isn't a job — it's a way of life. Curt and Ryland Porter are the 3rd and 4th generation to work the land in Garnett, Kansas. That deep-rooted connection to the soil is the foundation everything at Xcel Ag Solutions is built on.

Understanding your soil is the foundation of a profitable fertility program. We offer two sampling methods to fit your operation:
- Whole-Field Sampling — A composite sample representing the entire field, ideal for getting a reliable baseline on soil nutrients, pH, and organic matter.
- Grid Sampling — A higher-resolution approach that divides your field into a grid and samples each zone independently, giving you a detailed picture of variability across the field.
After sampling, you receive the complete raw lab data — full transparency into what your soil is actually doing.

Fertility Planning
Once your soil data is in, our agronomist reviews the results and builds a custom fertility plan for each field — not a generic template, but recommendations specific to your soils, your crops, and your yield goals.
A full-season plan typically covers:
- Pre-Plant Applications — Setting the foundation before the crop goes in the ground.
- At-Planting Applications — Starter fertility and in-furrow treatments timed with planting.
- Post-Planting Passes — Side-dress and foliar applications to keep the crop on track through the season.
- Lime Recommendations — Correcting pH issues that limit nutrient availability and yield potential.
- Manure Crediting — Accounting for manure nutrients so you apply only what the field still needs.
